Climate Action & Carbon Initiatives Program
Climate change poses growing challenges to both ecosystems and communities in Zanzibar. Rising temperatures, changing rainfall patterns, and environmental degradation are directly affecting livelihoods and natural resources.
Through this program, JUMIJAZA works to equip communities with the knowledge, tools, and opportunities needed to respond to climate challenges effectively. The project introduces climate-smart land use practices that enhance resilience while protecting ecosystems.
A key component of this initiative is exploring carbon-related opportunities that provide financial incentives for conservation. JUMIJAZA supports communities in understanding carbon concepts, preparing for participation in carbon initiatives, and aligning local conservation efforts with global climate frameworks.
The program also emphasizes awareness and education, ensuring that communities understand the long-term importance of climate action and their role in environmental stewardship.
By connecting local action with global opportunities, this project creates a pathway for communities to benefit economically while contributing to climate solutions.
